Common questions

How do I reconstitute sermorelin?

Add your chosen volume of bacteriostatic water to the lyophilized vial, directing the stream gently against the glass wall, and swirl slowly (do not shake) until fully dissolved. The calculator above converts your vial size and water volume into the exact concentration, draw volume, and units to pull for your target dose.

How many units of sermorelin is 300 mcg?

It depends on your reconstitution concentration. With a 5 mg vial in 2 mL of bacteriostatic water (2.5 mg/mL), 300 mcg (0.3 mg) is 0.12 mL, which equals 12 units on a U-100 syringe. With the same vial in 1 mL (5 mg/mL), 300 mcg is 0.06 mL, or 6 units. Enter your own vial size and water volume above to get your exact number.

Why is sermorelin injected at bedtime?

Bedtime injection aligns with the body's natural growth hormone rhythm. Endogenous GH secretion peaks during deep slow-wave sleep, and somatostatin (the main GH inhibitor) falls during sleep. Injecting sermorelin in the evening amplifies the overnight GH pulse that would naturally occur. The original FDA-approved Geref prescribing information specified once-daily subcutaneous administration at bedtime for this reason.

What was the FDA-approved sermorelin (Geref) dose?

The Geref prescribing information specified 30 mcg per kilogram of body weight, injected subcutaneously once daily at bedtime, for children with growth hormone deficiency. The product was discontinued commercially in 2008 for business reasons unrelated to safety or efficacy, as confirmed by the FDA Federal Register notice. Current compounded adult use is off-label; typical clinical doses range from 200-500 mcg once daily at bedtime. This calculator performs math on the values you enter; it does not recommend any dose.
