Gonadotropin (Pregnyl, Novarel)
Reconstitute HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) and convert your dose in international units into the exact units to draw. Enter your vial strength in IU and bacteriostatic water volume for the precise mark on a U-100 insulin syringe.
Draw to
Draw to the 15 unit mark. That is 0.150 mL of solution.

It depends on your reconstitution concentration. With a 5000 IU vial in 2 mL of bacteriostatic water (2500 IU/mL), 500 IU is 0.20 mL, which equals 20 units on a U-100 insulin syringe. With the same vial in 1 mL (5000 IU/mL), 500 IU is 0.10 mL, or 10 units. Enter your own vial strength and water volume above to get your exact number.
Yes, for specific indications. The chorionic gonadotropin product Novarel is FDA-approved for prepubertal cryptorchidism not due to anatomic obstruction, selected cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in males, and induction of ovulation and pregnancy in appropriately pretreated anovulatory infertile women, per its prescribing information. The same label notes that HCG has no known effect on fat mobilization and is not effective for weight loss. HCG is a prescription drug; this tool does not recommend any dose or use.
Add your chosen volume of bacteriostatic water to the lyophilized vial, directing the stream gently against the glass wall, and swirl slowly (do not shake) until fully dissolved. The calculator above converts your vial strength in IU and water volume into the exact concentration in IU/mL, the draw volume, and the units to pull for your target dose. Refrigerate and follow the storage time on your product labeling after reconstitution.
This calculator does not recommend a dose. It performs math on the values you enter so you can convert a dose your prescriber has given you into the exact units to draw. HCG doses in the FDA label vary by indication and patient, and HCG is a prescription medication. Consult a licensed clinician for any dosing decision.
